Launched in 1883, Kroger began investing in online grocery many years prior. In 2018, the brand formed a partnership with UK-based tech company Ocado to improve the efficiency with which online grocery orders are fulfilled.

The partnership aimed to use automation and AI technology to better fulfill online grocery orders. Most Kroger customers today enjoy pickup and delivery options, and the retailer is expanding its partnership to develop additional fulfillment facilities and robust in-store technologies.
